A Challenge to Wives

A Challenge to Wives

So here it is, ladies of the world, do me a favor… Do a quick mental search of your recent social media news feeds. When was the last time you saw some sort of post that took on the nature of a complaint about a husband? You probably don’t have to think back very far.

Wives, this is my challenge. BE NICE. Seems sort of simple, right? Right…

The funny thing about mentally searching my news feeds is that I can think of several posts from complaining wives right in this very moment. I cannot, for the life of me however, think of one single solitary husband who has posted a complaint about his wife. Now, please don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that husbands don’t complain about their wives. But public griping on social media that instantly reaches hundreds, possibly thousands of your ‘closest’ friends… Well, that’s a different story.

Ladies, the absolute worst thing we can do for our marriage, for our family, for ourselves, is to publicly degrade our husbands. And yet, many of us do it more often than we might like to admit.

Ladies, one of the absolute best things we can do for our marriage, for our family, for ourselves, is to daily strive– whether quietly or publicly– to acknowledge the GOOD things about our husband. I know that there will be bad days. And I am not suggesting that we sweep every negative thing under the rug. But we MUST choose to dwell on the positive. As we focus on the good things, even on the days that they seem equally speckled with bad, we will find that the positive things seem to increase in our eyes. Conversely, focusing on the negative things about our spouse will cause those things to trickle their way into every moment of our day. The latter may be one of the most detrimental things we can do for our marriage.

Choose to edify your spouse. Choose to speak positive things about him. Choose today, to love all the good things about him. Doing this can cause growth that will build a foundation that will stand the test of time. Wives, THIS is my challenge. Go ahead, give it a shot…
